Man...I love that solo in "Whole Lotta Love".
Anyway, it's obvious that fans have no idea what they're talking about. They're too ignorant to know a single thing about their favorite band, even if it is My Chemical Romance, other than their names and the singles.

Ok, for most of the bashing on here it is not because "the band sucks" though some hold that opinion. Anyway, to me it's easy. The fans came up with the whole spam the R&P section "Black Parade" deal and every other question seems to be about MCR even though they know the same question was just asked. It's hate directed at annoying obsessive fans more than anything. (Not directed at anyone in particular) I'm sure if any other band had a similar situation they'd get similar treatment, because it's to annoy the annoying fans.

Well MCR pushed me out of the way of a moving bus, that's how they saved me. LOL JK.
How does any band save any body?
MCR writes some really deep stuff. And alto of people can relate to them.
Gerard did have a very serious drinking problem and it was some thing he over came losing some friends in the process.
Now I do think some of there fans are crazy to. But dont question why some one likes something diffrent. We all have our reasons.. K

I totally 100% agree with Gєяαяd~ιsm [†]. I mean I'm sure there are fans out there who say these things and don't know what they're talking about, but that's just like anything else. Music itself saves people's lives. It doesn't matter what genre it is, it's the way that it connects with people on a deeper level. Musicians who can do this have a very strong fan base, and naturally the fans are going to connect with the band members, because they're the ones writing the music. It comes from them and their experiences, and people who can relate to them support them. Music is free choice.

What this all makes me think of is, and I hope I don't come off too cynical and condescending here (though it's probably unavoidable given the point I'm going for) is that they're kids. Kids are prone to melodrama and I think need to find someone to relate too that they can admire. Someone with a platform that can articulate their feelings. That is what makes the music industry such a source of idols to young people. I remember when I was a depressed kid and Lou Barlow really "spoke to me." It's easy to take for granted how many people suffer depression and anxiety and crawl out from substance abuse problems, and honestly even though it may make it seem more trite or contrived to people who are either a little older or have experienced these things themselves, it's irrelevant. What it comes down to is My Chemical Romance has a vibe and a "voice" (for lack of a better word) that these kids can relate to. I think this has been going on for a really long time but now-a-days everyone has a platform (which is also another source of exaggeration). I would never said "they saved my life" or gone on about what he had been through, but I do remember listening to Sebadoh a lot and feeling good that there was something that I could be sad with and relate to.

The Black Parade isnt about Gerard and Mikey's Grandmother dying? The Black Parade is about death, and about how you can choose how it comes and gets you.. The most obvious is "Welcome To The Black Parade" The patient remembers how he and his father went to a parade when he was little, and that parade is what came and took his life. The Parade isnt actually a real "parade".. its just a Metaphor for death.
My Chemical Romance has had a big influence in my life since I first heard them, But I cant honestly say they saved my life. I think that people say that they have saved their lives because they Know what Gerard and the other members have faced and overcomed.
..Oh well They all had hard childhoods in a part of America with a High crime rate and People often dying very close to where they lived. Most of them were outcasts in school. They lost family members and friends in their life too. Gerard was an alcoholic, had an addiction to drugs, had depression and was suicidal. Mikey also had depression and was having anxiety attacks. And with the help of friends, family and the band they beat the problems they had. But they also lost friends in the process. Gerard writes deep and meaningful lyrics and songs that people who are going through the same things can relate to, and they dont feel alone. And now that millions of people around the look up to MCR as their heros and idols they realised.. Well if they can do it, so can I.
Well thats what I think..

Okay fine I may be a weird little fan but who exactly cares anyway?A lot of people have already mentioned what the band has gone through so I shan't elaborate. My Chemical Romance didn't exactly SAVE my life,as in save me from a certain death or something but they changed me for the better.Listening to their songs and lyrics has definitely made me more a more optimistic person.Their music has also made me stronger as well as given me the courage to stand up to those who treat me unfairly, something which I never had before knowing about My Chemical Romance. For that,I am very grateful to the band. They taught me many many things about life, such as how we shouldn't be concerned about what people think about us and that we should live our live the way we want to.And also that suicide and self mutilation won't solve your problems.(to think people call them emo!what utter rubbishh..)Their music has definitely kept me going during my examination period, which is a rather tough part of my life every year due to all the non stop studying which just makes you want to break down.Though My Chemical Romance didn't save my life, they had a very positive impact on it and I feel that I have them and their music to thank for making me a better person.

Okay for one thing, The band has been though a lot in the past few years (if you wanna know more about it in detail watch life on the murder scene for a small glimpse of their lives) I'm not going to rehash things that everyone else has already said but i definitley think although music doesn't always save lives it can definitely change livesand those are 2 very different things to say. Point of view is key. I think that lyrics as deep and provocative as those of mcr really make you think. their experiences, sufferings etc etc that they miraculously turned into words force you think think about a greater underlying meaning. For example the black parade is a metaphor for death, not necessisarily a parade as the layman might take it to be, Think about it.

Well, for one thing MCR kind of makes the fans happier, and they got something to make them happier if they were emos or whatever depressed person before. Except the person might still be weirdly depressed, but will not do suicide if they were suicidal, because they want to see Gerard or MCR or something. And the members well... for one thing they come from NJ, that enough explanation for you?

'All you wierd little fans'
How nice.
They can save peoples life by giving them hope, or something to belive in. faith.
Gerard and Mikey's grandma died which 'Helena' is about.
Gerard was 'drunk for three years' and a cocaine addict, but now 3 years sober and clean.
This is all people really know about them, MCR dont tell their life story to their fans so for all you know they could have had a terrible life. I think you were a bit quick to judge and you are obviously too narrow minded to understand.

mcr did save my life. Gerard and mikey have both been through a lot. gerard has been an alcoholic addicted to drugs, depressed and suicidal.. But he has overcome all that. He writes really deep and personal lyrics so when people listen to their songs they feel like they have answers to their problems and that there is someone out there who they can relate to. And back to your other question, a while ago when i was really depressed and i wanted to end my life, i found their music and i could relate to it. It made me personally feel like i wasnt alone. They have an amazing way of relaying emotions into songs and making them utterly beautiful and they are still pop-punk rock. They saved my life in so many ways.
