Not with computers. There was no internet back then; we were really cavemen back then. Oops, those Geico cavemen are gonna have a cow.
We had vinyl records, cassette tapes and 8 track tape players. You could record music onto cassettes from broadcast radio and some fancy systems allowed you to tape music from vinyl records. The vinyl records when new sounded great and the art work on the album covers were nice too. Don't laugh too hard at the 70s. 30 years from now (when everyone will be wearing silver spacesuits and driving flying cars), the kids will laugh at your MP3 player and your laptop.

NO,
Download in the 1970s? Computers were very primitive back then.
Recorded music was on 8 track tapes. Large cassettes that had a tape 1/4" wide to hold a stereo sound track. Normal cassette recorders recorded in mono mode only.

In the 70', there were no computers in the home, no internet, music was on round plastic records, or you went to a 'night club' to hear a band and dance. High schools had Friday night dances for the teenagers.

Sweetie-- the average person did not have a computer in their house in the 70's! They were used in big business, and a lot of people did not even know what they were....
So in answer to your question.. NO

From what? We borrowed records and taped them. Played them back on 8-tracks. I hate to admit it, but not only do I still have hundreds of records, I still have my 8-tracks!

Yes, we watched episodes of Star Trek with William Shatner and imagined how fun it would be to have one of those transporter beams in our bedrooms.

No, you had to buy them or find someone who had songs you like and record them on cassette, 8 track or reel to reel.
