doing this at home isn't the smartest idea. aside from all the unsanitary conditions that you will more than likely be in, the massive infections that can result... you can get the placement all wrong. and then it will look all ****** up, and like you tried to do it yourself at home.

just do yourself a favor, fork out the dough, get it done professionally. it's your face. it's totally worth it.

i tried doing all this on my own when i was younger. would've saved me a lot of grief if i'd just gone to the piercer.

Shoving any kind of sharp object into your skin forcibly is going to hurt, whether you go to a pro or not. I pierced the left side of my lip all on my own and got a 14g in there, never had an infection. Use either a safety pin or sewing needle. A large/thick sewing needle works better. DO NOT NUMB THE SKIN. EVER. What that does is hardens the skin so you can't pierce it as easily. Don't be a pusy and just SHOVE IT IN! The pain is only temporary, and the longer you take, the longer it hurts. Leave the needle in for five or so minutes, put a small hoop (depending on the size of your needle) in, and voila. I had to start out w/an 18g, then I just poked the 14 in. It doesn't hurt to stretch at all.

My close friend is a tattoo artist/piercer and Im going to tell you DONT DO IT YOURSELF he is a professional (4years) and he tried it with a few different things on people when he just started for some extra cash and he said it never works right and he cant believe he was so stupid to try that. the needles they are are actual piercing needles they get a supply store and there is a certain technique and cleaning method to it as well (you can contract so many infections and it could turn out bad and look homedone) I suggest if you are hell bent on doing it yourself you at least go to a tattoo and piercing place and at least ask them to show you the technique, what to use,and how to clean and care for it (but I STILL dont suggest it) but if you can just have them do it it will be 40 buck tops and you wont have to worry about permanantly scarring yourself.

P.S icing doesnt work it will numb it for a bit but it will make the flesh hard and that makes it more difficult for the needle to go through and the pain get so much worse once the ice wears off than without it thats why piercers dont use ice.

I read a story in the newspaper today about a girl who had a tongue piercing that lead to a serious infection that almost killed her. She spent weeks in the hospital and had to have therapy to learn to walk and talk again. She has scars on her neck and chest from the many surgeries she had to have the infection cut away repeatedly. My advice: This is a seriously dangerous thing to do. DON'T do it!!!

for things like this, better get it done by the experts.. my room mate had his bottom lip pierced (actually done by a professional) and it kept on bleeding for days and even weeks he had to give up the piercing... get what i mean?

so if you're really dying to have it, get it done by an expert...

when it's done, bear the consequences....

Its still better to have a pro or at least an assistant tto do it for ya. I used dress maker pins and wire cutters. straight pins pushed from the outside(measure and mark them out first!) then cut the pins extensions. lock them with rubber earing locks. as for the pain, try a slushee or an ice cube to numb your lip
your trying to look like theguy from disturbed?
