how do you put the ends on those 'do it yourself' leather necklaces?

Well, there actually is only one main kind of leather 'do it yourself' necklace, at least that I have ever seen. The silver ends look kinda like a small spring with a loop. I know the leather goes into the 'spring' part, I just do not know how to secure it to the leather. Any help would be greatly appreceated. Thanks

Perhaps you could be a little more explicit. Do you think there is only one kind of leather necklaces that people make and everyone just knows what you are talking about?
