Let's see if you can actually answer the question without referencing 'men'

women have a higher emotional intelligence generally, and react to more than just direct stimuli. That is they often think creatively, emotionally, subjectivelly, abstractivelly etc (and use the right side of the brain more). Men are often more concrete and direct in their thinking, and tend to use the left side of the brain. This I would suggest gives some people the idea women are 'illogical and overly emotional'. personally as a women I like to think we just have a greater range of intelligences, and react instinctly, rather than need facts to allow us to think and act.

I have Tinnitus...it sucks...My ears ring very loud allllllll day and night and I can't do anything to damage my auditory nerves or it gets worse. That means no loud movies, clubs, bars, parties...ever. This ends up affecting every aspect of my life not just the fact I can't go to parties.

My life, and reality of what is going on in my life are different then most and others have a hard time actually understanding. The motivators which get me to do and not do things, and act certain ways are completely different then most. So it is very hard for people to relate and therefore a lot of the things I do seem stupid to others. For example what bedroom I pick in a house has to do with how quite and away from family noise it is rather then how comfy it is. Even if it is super small and ugly I'll subconsciously feel the most comfortable in that room because I feel safe and relived from stress before I even consciously realize I like it because it's quite. So this appears on the outside as stupid to others and irrational, when actually it's extremely rational for me.

I think the same thing is happening with you and women. We are not stupid. I'm pretty sure what is going on is you are observing behavior that you do not understand what the motivators behind it are.

Also what is definitely going on, is that YOU are havening a miscommunication and a misunderstanding, yet you're blaming it on the woman gender? This is bass-ackwards buddy.

The same situation can appear completely different to people but each person figures the other one is understanding the situation the exact same way.

Two reasons...

Firstly, it seems that way because the actions of a few have been made representative of the whole. Certain individuals, like Marilyn Monroe and Suzanne Sommers (in her character on Three's Company) made an artform of the beautiful dumb blonde - completely illogical, incompetent and overly emotional. They became icons in our media driven society, and their portrayals stereotyped a gender.

Secondly, in my generation, we were the daughters of women who were taught to 'let a man handle it'. Our mothers were taught to have well manicured hands and never be seen without lipstick...leading us, subconsciously, to believe that we were not to be too smart or clever...let the man figure it out, let him be the man in the relationship...

I am not crying victim here....and today, no one is responsible for being seen illogical and overly emotional but the woman herself. If a woman chooses that route, however, it casts a negative light on the gender as a whole, and sets us back further.

I don't think anybody would mistake me for being overly emotional or illogical. If anything, I keep my emotions in check when I'm at work or out in public. Some people think I'm a very cold person because of it.

C. Prior expectations are coloring your perceptions.

D. You're correct. And depending on your criteria, most men are illogical and overly emotional as well.

Because women are more emotional. I thought it was well known this was a biological fact. Hasn't anyone read The Female Brain?

Jackson
Because its our nature. Its instilled in us as small children. We are not perfect people, or a perfect gender, but we are still out-living you . and we can work in an otherwise "Men's" world, make equal $$, cook the meals, pick up the children from day care, change the diapers, endure more pain of child birth, and still we remain emotional, illogical ,,,, self-absorbed,,,, and somewhat cranky,,,,,, but we have boobs, and you ..... well you do not !!!!!! And that's probably what really makes you the most upset.......
ANd that SIR.... is said in trying to refrain from referencing men......

I think they seem illogical because a large portion of them are ,same for being overly emotional. That is just how they think and act.
