That's a matter of opinion, brah. Most people who "live with their eyes closed," don't have it easy. Like the good folks in Jena, Louisiana. Look at all the misery they caused themselves because their eyes were closed to racial prejudice. The black community there is going to suffer some serious backlash when Jena has faded from the public spotlight.
People who live with misunderstanding all their lives have a much harder time when reality slaps them in the face. What they thought they knew was really a lie, and then they must unlearn what they have learned. Example: September 11th. We thought we were safe from terrorism. We thought wrong. Even now, we go about our lives while there are still forces out there who want to attack the U.S. and Britain. Nobody cares until the next attack...
As far as your statement about " it getting hard to be someone but it all works out." That too is circumstantial. It's either hard to be "someone," or it's not. Depends on who you are and where you live.

That's definitely one positive side of being blind. But there are so many other things that they miss out on.
