destiny is what will happen to you. you may try to change it, even succeed to actually change it, but either way, your destiny will happen. what doesn't happen to you is not your destiny.
in another sense, destiny is like destination. it is where you will go to at the end of your journey whether you think you're going or not. even if you stand still you will still find yourself in your destination. even if you try to re-trace your steps back to where you started, you will still arrive at your destination.
you are trapped but you also control it. the only thing certain is that you can not escape your destiny or run away from your destination.
like me writing this and you reading this. it is destiny.

Destiny is one of the tools that is used to escape from reality.
If destiny did exist, our life would be boring and useless.
Our life is not a book that has already published.
It is, so to speak, a notebook.
This notebook has many pages but no one has written in it.
The writer is not destiny but you.
It is you that live your own life and write your own story.

An ideal that helps us rationalize things we think we have no control over. Like when people say they are destined to do something or "everything happens for a reason" - to be fatalistic like this is intellectually useless because it cuts you off from whats going on.
Destiny, to me, is the way in which we all become predictable. Even those people we know who are unpredictable are predictably unpredictable. Its our destiny to act in certain ways. Small town people generally remain small town people. It is their destiny because it is what they are most likely to chose. However, we all know the stories of the small town girl/boy in the big city.
Destiny is not so rigid.

There is no such thing as a destiny. It's one of the many ways for escape or deflect responsibility ,accept defeat in a covert manner and what not.If it had some realism, why it can't be foretold? At best,it can be a pointer of things likely to happen and nothing more.Don't ever believe in it.
