It was the theme song to a TV show back in the 1970s called Welcome Back, Kotter. The story revolved around a teacher who comes back to teach at his old high school and is stuck with a bunch of losers. John Travolta played Vinnie Barbarino, possibly his first TV appearance. Really, it was a funny & good show. Lots of famous people on it. I don't know why it's not on TVLand or NickatNite. I'm trying to think of who sang the song. Seems like it was John Sebastian of The Lovin' Spoonful.
