Anyone that gets the death sentence has done something really bad. I think lethal injection is to good for some of them.L/I is a much easier death then their victims were given I'm sure.Cruel and unusual punishment? You have got to be kidding. Should they be kept in a prison for the rest of their life so they can enjoy cable TV. a workout gym, laying around most of the day and being taken care of by the state?I don't think so. They should be put to death right away and stop wasting the states money. If they get back out( which most of them do) many just go back and commit their crimes again.Think of hanging or the electric chair. These are much worse. Even then, they deserve to be put down. Just like any other animal that has gone mad and killed someone.

Yes. The fact that other countries carry out "more barbaric" executions isn't the point. What does it say about us that we are now sixth in the world in executions, behind the likes of China and the Sudan, but ahead of countries like Saudi Arabia.
The purpose of the paralytic is to keep witnesses from seeing the condemned writhing, moaning, gasping or crying out. Did you know that last drug used in lethal injections is not used for euthanizing animals because of the pain it causes.
We have a death penalty, but not a "death by torture" penalty as some people who answered your question seem to prefer.

I think execution is actually an escape from what would be real punishment - living 40 or 50 years in the general population of a max security prison with the modern day ghouls we put in them. There are however individuals that should be executed so they are never again loosed on society even by accident. Lethal injection has to be a better alternative than having your head sawed off with a butcher knife like our Jihadist friends are doing in Iraq.

Well, there was hanging, death by firing squad, the electric chair, the gas chamber...So, now it's "lethal injection".
I would say it depends upon the crime and whether or not the person was really guilty. If a heinous crime and the person was definitely guilty, then I would say that "cruel and unusual" does not apply to any of these methods.

Digoxin which is what is used to stop the heart can mimic the feeling of a heart attack. Especially if not enough is used.
They can go back to the guillotine, can use gas chambers, hang them and they all have violent and frightening views.
But what did they do to arrive at this court ordered end? I do not feel they should be deliberately tortured, but do agree that there should be an end to their lives.

It MAY be unusual... but then, if 37 states use it, then it's pretty "usual." Cruel? Nope, it's nothing compared to previous forms of execution. What? We should go back to hangings or firing squads?
If they're not given ENOUGH anesthetic, then QUADRUPLE the dose! He/she's gonna die anyway, so why worry what the dosage is?????????
Everyone is entitled to my opinion.

Oh my god, are you SERIOUS????? That is ridiculous! Who makes this **** up?
Cruel punishment?? YES! It IS, because they DESERVE it! What did they do to get the Death Penalty, help some old Lady cross the street? I think NOT.
They SHOULD suffer!
I don`t care one way or another how it`s done as long as it gets done. If you want a quick death, get in front of a firing squad!

I think it is a more humane way to put someone to death, but most of these ppl that are on death row committed the horrible crime of murder and I am sure none of them did it in a humane way. So if ppl do not want this, they should not murder innocent ppl.

I'm looking forward to my next year of law school because we'll get to discuss cases like this. I'm a death penalty propnent, NO I do not think it is cruel and unusual.
Not enough anestesia, please. I get frustrated so easily.
Bring back the firing squad.
