That remark of our Saviour's was a gem and has always stuck in my mind, since I first heard it as a little child.
Like so much of what He said, you can't argue with it - just accept it!

Ok. now a salt is an Ionic compound basically anything that is in the first 2 colums of the periodic table and anything that is in the last 4 except the last one. Basically anything that has the Electonegativity of greater than 1.5. So if something is a salt the only way to "unsalt" it would be to break down the chemical bonds of the salt wether it be NaCl or Ca(CO3). Also you have receptors on your tounge for salt and sweet and bitter. This is a defense mechanism. If something is to salty then your body is gonna reject it because if your soduim levels are too high. Your blood pressure goes up. So I don't know what Jesus is talking about. He must not have had any Chemistry or Anatomy classes before he made everything. Hope this answered you question and sorry for the smart remark i just made but it was fun.

Evidently Jesus was a better carpenter than he was a physiologist. Salt is salty because the tounge has sensors that transmit the sensation of "saltiness" to the brain.

Well you know that salt is Sodium Chloride (NaCl)
and the sodium reacts with the chloride to produce a special taste that reacts with the sensors on your toungue to produce the effect and taste of salt.
