Area 51 does indeed exist. It is a US Air Force base in which new technology such as aircraft are developed. The SR-71 blackbird and the F-117 stealth were developed there, at least in part. Since these new craft have to be flown at some point, but pictures aren't released to the public, people often see UFOs around there. But remember that UFO stands for Unidentified Flying Object, not Extraterrestrial Space Vehicle. Since the craft are new and no-one has seen them before, they are not able to identify them as known aircraft. How they then make the leap to aliens I have no idea.
I remember back in the early 90s a lot of fuss being made about weird black triangular UFOs. Not long thereafter, pictures were released on the stealth bomber and the F-117, and guess what? They were black and triangular!
The secrecy surrounding Area 51 is quite natural, considering the cutting-edge research that goes on there and the understandable desire to prevent enemies, or potential enemies, from knowing just what military equipment you have. The down side is that it allows anyone to claim anything about what goes on there, safe in the knowledge that no-one can contradict them because they either don't know exactly what's in there, or else they do and can't talk about it.

Area 51 exists, it is a semi-secret AF Base whose purpose is to experiment with and test the bleeding edge military aircraft of the future. So, odd things are flown out of there, but I doubt that there's any space alien craft being backwardly engineered!

If you are talking about Area 51, it exists. In fact, Nevada has built a state highway that goes right by it. But people are still not invited in.

Area 51 is real; it is a military base in the Nevada desert. Inside the military it is also called "Dreamland"; this is where they do the experimental aircraft.

area 51 DOES exist, look it up on google earth lol, it doesnt look special but who knows could have underground top secret research facilities :-)
