For example, since zero (0) is nothing and there are simple equations that can equal that the simplest being x - x = 0; is there a similar simple equation that would equal infinity? And if there isn't, is it possible that such an equation exists but we haven't figured it out yet?

I was thinking at first it was then: x+x; but that just doubles the value of x. I went throught all operations, multiplication, exponentials, etc.

I was thinking of those, but then infinity in those equations is predefined. If x = infinity than is easy, but what I'm looking for is infinity being the answer while at the same time not being in the equation.

hmm, is then zero (0) considered a number?

You know what, this is probably more of a philosophical question I guess: Is it possible for inifinty to be given a numeric value?

Vince is correct. Division by zero is NOT infinity. Division by zero is undefined. No one knows what it is, but it is NOT infinity. Infinity is NOT a number. It cannot be treated like a number.

X/0 is undefined do not treat it as infinity. You cannot at all reach a set solution as infinity. It's not a set number. Infinity is just a term used to describe the never ending solution of an equation.

Yes there is an equation that equals infinity and you've probably seen it before:

x/0 = infinity

Technically, this equation only has a limit that approaches infinity which is a fancy calculus term for equals

This is why when you divide by 0 on a calculator it comes up domain error or undefinied.

* n+1=[], whereas n=n+1 -- a constantly growing value would be achieved, while n would remain constant due to the infinite substitution. This equation may have not emulated infinity as an answer, the unknown value
equivalent to the mathematical phrase n+1 would remain constant due to the infinitive substitution occurring.

Infinity is a concept not a number; so it can't be "computed" It only takes on meaning in the limit. One might as well have asked "How do you compute big?"
