Assuming you mean a driver CD with drivers for the main board, sound card etc etc, ask dell, or try www.dell.com support section.
A CD ROM drive itself needs no specific drivers.

Windows XP has most drivers for cd drives. If Windows XP is installed in your laptop then Windows should recognize the cd drive and install the driver automatically.
Sometimes you need to uninstall the cd drive completely from Device Manager in Control Panel and reboot the computer before Windows will recognize the drive and install the driver for it.

I t would help if you stated the model and serial numbers of the Dell Laptop.
Is the CD-ROM one that came with the Dell or is it an external one you purchased.
If it is an external CD-ROM you purchased, supply the make and model of it.
