Looking for a series of fantasy novels. The premise is a bunch of friends are playing dungeons & dragons and they end up getting warped into their characters in a fantasy world. I remember that they used to speak pig latin to eachother when they wanted to talk just amongst themselves. It's not the cartoon dungeons and dragons but a series of adult themed novels. There were several books, 4 I think and I remember really liking them even though one of the main characters, the one that turned into a barbarian gets killed.

I remembered a bit more. One of the characters was originally in a wheelchair. I think he is the one that becomes a warrior/barbarian but he gets literally blown up at the end of one of the books and his son takes over protecting the people his father had been taking care of.

The series takes place almost entirely in the fantasy world. The beginning of the first book has the people playing a d&d type game in someones garage and then they suddenly end up in the fantasy/medieval world where they stay throughout the rest of the series, they never get back to our earth and stay in the bodies of their characters til they die. It's not a comedy series, rather a drama where the characters fight, love and even die. I think the main hero's name was Carl. He was the one originally in the wheelchair. He dies at the end of the second book I think from an explosion.

Hmm.. I really don't know, the only books I can think of are Mazes and Monsters (basically the precurser to LARP.. using a game that is never called D&D.. but is) and one called Witch and Wombat.. (this one is more of a dimensional vacation that the people think they are actually role playing).. I'll see if I can dig something up online the second sounds close, but I don't think it's a series..

Edit:

I found one on Amazon that fits.. (and it says it's part of a series)

The Dragon's Tomb by D. J. Heinrich inc
The Fall of Magic
The Tainted Sword

then there are some by T.H. Lain
Return of the Damned
The Death Ray
The living Dead

Problem is there aren't any good plot descriptions.. so here's a d&d novel booklist .. :

Anne McCaffrey writes dragon books, one in all her series being the Dragonriders of Pern, i think. the 1st is Dragonsong, then Dragonsinger, then Dragondrums. Gail Carson Levine additionally writes some somewhat good delusion books, inclusive of the two Princesses of Bamarre, Fairest, and Ella Enchanted. E.D. Baker wrote the Frog Princess series, beginning with The Frog Princess. next is Dragon's Breath, then as quickly as Upon A Curse, then No place for Magic, then The Salamander Spell. have fun with!

Don't know the one that you're talking about actually, but if you like fantasy, I'd recommend the Wheel of Time series. Fans of the book regularly talk about the characters and artifacts in the plot as if they were real people, and it is fast paced and really thrilling.
