I always have had poor eyesight and problems with a collapsing ankle. Add to that being shy, and I generally spent time walking with gaze on the ground. Actually, that's been lucky for me. I've found fossils, pretty pebbles, trinkets and money. Over the years, it's harder to pick up items, but I still pick up some coins.
I wouldn't say that I'm superstitious, but I won't pick up a facedown penny. I will pick up all of the other coins I spot, and I've seen many of those. I've found dollar bills a number of times, always in places where it would be impossible to find the owners..
My prize happened like this: I was called into work at a bookstore in a mall and parked in back since I would be closing the store. I was NOT in a good mood! It had been on-and-off rainy, so I was being careful not to step in puddles. Then, I spotted a different-color patch of mud and gravel. Curious, I bent down to take a closer look, realizing it was a bill that had been trod upon so much that the green was barely visible. When I retrieved it and cleaned it off with a tissue, I was thrilled to discover it was a twenty dollar bill! This was in the mid-Seventies, so that was a huge find indeed. Heck! Most of us would love to make that sort of find now. It did perk up my spirits since I realized that, with the traffic to and from the mall, there was no way that I would find the owner. If I could have, I would have, but that bill obviously had been on the ground quite a while.
I also found money in the parking lot of a Renaissance faire. At first, I thought it was a bit of trash and picked it up to throw it away. Instead, I found a crumpled up five dollar bill! Again, there was no way to find the owner.
I always wondered how many people would raise their hands if you asked, "Did someone lose this?"

Sadly I haven't found much. Occationally coins but never a real find. Take that back. I did. I found a 10 dollar bill. I didn't actually find it.....I saw some young kids with their parents and the parents gave them 10 bucks a piece to by something. Being like kids are and not paying attention.....one dropped his. I picked it up when he seemed to be totally unaware of it. I didn't follow them but kept an eye on them when they were ready to go to the register with their goodies in hand. Each kid stood in line waiting to pay and get their change. They did so well. Then when this one kid was ready to pay.....I handed it over to him when he found his money wasn't in his pocket. Some might figure I was a b for doing that.......but I know many more would have stuffed it in their pocket. Others may have found it and turned it in......but by that time he'd have been in tears and in trouble and all.....(if they would have even asked to see if anyone turned it in.) The parents were not mad at all. .....in fact they thought maybe he should get a wallet the next time because it is tough to know when bills fall out of your pocket. His parents were doing everything so well and they were fine children.....just a little pay attention lesson along the way. I know they were the type that would have said....you lost it....you don't get anything then. Life has enough tough lessons without a nice break now and then.

Yup, a lot of times, but the probability of finding more becomes bigger on a holiday or a special event where people are all outdoors celebrating.... I've even found coin purses, they don't contain that much money inside though..
There is a myth about it though, if you find money and you take it to use for yourself, somehow you will end up losing money way bigger than what you found - sort of nature's way of collecting.... If you give it to charity though, I don't think nature will still collect from you.
There is also another way of looking at it, when you pray cuz you really need the money and there it is, its a quick answered prayer but if you have money and you find some, just hope that it was not the only money the owner had or that would be way too sad for them.
I guess I'm gonna go outdoors later, I need to find me some... hehehehe....

I haven't had much luck. A couple of times I found crumpled up dollar bills which probably fell from someone's pocket. But most of the time are pennies and dimes, the smaller size coins.

Sure, and some of them were not nailed or glued down! Found a wad of money with a rubber band around it once, picked it up, put it in my pocket, carried it home, and watched the papers for a week...no lost or found notices, so it kept it. What was I supposed to do? Leave it for the next guy? Anytime you want a coin, step out front of a 7/11....coins everywhere.

No bills, only coins. I find even more of them in my washer and dryer, though, and the sad thing is, they come from my own clothes! Hubby religiously cleans his pockets when he removes his clothes.
Today, at the grocery store, I found a penny atop a can of Old Bay seasoning. Some people can scorn a penny, but not I.

Yeah lol I like walking through the halls after passing time and its funny because you can find a stray bill or quarter on the ground sometimes.
Today my chemistry teacher found a dollar bill and asked if anyone was missing one and of course everyone jokingly was like oh yeah! Its mine! and then he turned around and said well until someone can identify the serial number on it, it's staying in my pocket.

I found a $20 bill once in the middle of the street. My girlfriend stopped the car and I got out to get it. Then we went to a restaurant and ordered $20 worth of drinks!
