It is in some places, and it takes some effort to make sure the child "fits" in both sides of the family, and knows about all aspects of his heritage.
It is getting better though, I think even among racists, a common opinion is that just because two adults made the "mistake" of having a biracial baby, doesn't mean you take out your feelings on the child.
Personally I believe love is love and families are families, no matter who is in the house and what they look like. But remember that it is an added challenge. It may seem unfair, but this implies that mixed race couples need to be that much more committed to each other, and that much more dedicated to their children...so that the family can withstand outside pressure. First step to raising a healthy biracial child is just like raising any other child...a rock solid adult relationship to give security and safety for the child, a safe haven, and a consistent example of a healthy loving relationship between adults (because they are learning what they know about love and how to be a grownup from YOU).

Some places this is still true. Some nationalities are more likely to intermarry than others. Kids are less likely to have a hard time, but some still do.
Parents who marry people of different races usually choose not to live in places where racism is very outward and strong to help their kids out.

I think it can be true to a point. But it's not a reason for not marrying and having children with someone you love. You just teach your child that racism is unacceptable and that they are loved for who they are no matter what others say. Yes, I think racism is horrible in this world, I don't think that will change, but parents can help future generations by not passing down racial views in their homes.

I hate to break the news to you, and i don't know what part of the world you're hiding in, but racism, under whatever prejudice mask you wish to let it wear, is more than abundant, whether it be descrimination on the base of race, creed, sexual preferance, appearance, belief, etc, the better question is when has it ever quelled. And the laws that govern this country don't make it any easier for the races to unite either way that it goes, because, on their nature alone, they create prejudism. Anyway, to better answer, I have 4 mixed cousins of various nationalities, and one adopted korean cousin, and, as far as I can remember, none of them had it easy. And for me, i'm white, sort of, and in an ethnic community, I didn't necessarrily find it easy. So the better question is, when hasn't racism been bad?

everyone gets made fun of in this world at one point or another, i guess if you lived in a bad part of town the kid would be more likely to be made fun of but i dont see any reason why the kid would be.
think abt this:
is everyone had a kid with someone of a different race, eventually there would be no more racism in this world

Racism is still present. Whenever you have different group of people with different values and upbringings, there will always be some kind of superiority complex that people feel it's okay to be racist. Unfortunately, it won't ever entirely go away. It's sad that any group of people would think that they are better than any one else.

Kids are going to be made fun of no matter what the parents do. Life isn't about avoidance, it's about knowing how to deal with the issues when they arise.

Children can be cruel, but to any child that may seem different to them or just because. overweight child, short child, child with a different name, etc. We as parents have to instill in our children that they are indeed special and important no matter what race.

I'm Filipina, Scottish, Irish, Japanese, Cherokee, and Welsh.
