14 is 30% of what numer?

write as 14 = .3X, X is what you want. Divide both sides by .3, or

14/.3 = X = 46.667

what is 2% of 40?

You want .02*40 = 0.8

sammy sosa had 193 hits, his batting average was 0.320 (32%) this is the total of at-bats (32%) how many at-bats did he have?

This means 193/ B = .32, where B is the number at-bat. Cross multiply.

193 = .32 B, divide by .32 or

B = 193/.32 = 603.125 or 603.

14 is 30% of what number?
>> 14 / (30%) =(100 *14) / 30 = 46.67

what is 2% of 40?
>> Oh come on have you never purchased any discounted goods? .02 * 40 or (2*40)/100 = 0.8

sammy sosa had...
>> 193 * 32% = (193*32) /100 = 61.76

FYI just in case you don't know. % = per cent = '/100'. So 32% is 32/100.

If you still not understand, ask your teacher. It's their job anyway.

14 = 30% x = 0.3 x

so x = 14/.3 = 140/3 = 46.667

2% of 40 = .02 * 40 = 0.8

no real idea about that batting stuff though

do they mean that 193 = .32 * T
T = 193 / .32 = 603

Let P - be the percentage

so;

P = Parts/ the total parts
1) P=30%; convert to decimal
P= 30/100
P= 0.3
therefore;
.3=14/x
x=14/0.3
x=46.67
2) .02=y/40

y=0.8

3) .32= 193/b
b= 603.125 or 604 at bats...:)

Ya surely i can help you with that :

14 is 30% of 46.67 approx as the exact answer is 46.66666 and so on . It is a continous thing and the 6 continues.

2 % of 40 is 0.8

The number of at-bats would be 193 * (32/100) which equals to 61.76 so as we would take a whole number the answer would be 61

yea this is easy, set them up as algebraic equations.
14 = 30%(.30) times what number? so, 14 = .30(x) divide 14 by .30 to solve for x

2% of 40 = .02 x 40

193 = .32(x)
