Slope-intercept form of 4x = -1/2y - 1?

make it look like y = mx + b, m is the slope, b is the y-intercept, so

4x = -1/2 y -1, write as

1/2 y = -4x -1 (by moving around), mult both sides by 2
y = -8x -2. Done.

Reading question as:-
4x = (-1/2) y - 1
8x = - y - 2
y = - 8x - 2 is required form.
