The invasion was not based on lies, so the premise of your question is false...making you a liar.

Well, considering it was a personality based dictatorship for the previous what 25 years or so?, then I think the concept of "crime rate" needs to be defined by you with a lot more clarity.

One could argue, and in fact apparently all the Iraqi Shiites DO argue, that every government official at any level EVER in the Hussein regime was a criminal, and many non-Baathists were labeleld criminals by the regime.

Given there was no transparent legal system (the nature of dictatorships), it would be impossible to compare to US or Western statistics - apples and oranges, but the Shiite argument above would seem to have at least some justification, wouldn't you agree?

I'm not sure of the crime rates present or prior to the USA invasion...

Logic would dictate that due to the 1 million Iraqis now dead since the invasion that crime would have increased an astronomical amount.

I'm sure that the political murders and torturing of innocent people wasn't considered in the crime rate

but yes, I'm sure it was better when a dictator was in charge. Yet you are asking for a choice between two unacceptable evils. The truth is that a truly democratic Iraq as it existed before Hussein's rise to power would be the best.

Mussolini could make the trains run on time, but did that make him good?

They were covered up and denied before we got there. Now its out in the open isn't it?And denying the sanctions placed upon Iraq by the UN,not honoring the no fly zone, and moving WMD's to the neighboring countries was not a lie.

Yes it was lower but that was because anyone with an opposing view point was summarily rounded up and they were never seen again. Its easy to keep order when you are willing to kill anyone that opposes you or is a criminal.

tough to tell, since before, Saddam and his Baath party were committing the majority of the crimes. You can't expect them to keep records on themselves.
