People should be FREE to burn flags, Bibles, Korans, etc, etc.
I don't want gov't telling people what kind of speech and expression is allowed or not.

Considering I've never burned a flag, I've never seen a flag being burned (except on TV), that I don't know anybody who's ever burned a flag, and that I don't know anybody who's ever seen anybody actually burning a flag, I have to wonder what the big deal is. I mean, it's really not like there's an epidemic of flag-burning out there.

I'm not a fan of it, I think that regardless of the current situation that motivates the practice, the flag stands for alot of good that the country has done over the course of its existence.
That being said, there is an old saying: "Everyone is in favor of free speech until someone is saying something you don't like".
Our founding fathers set up the constitution as a response to an oppressive government that limited their freedom of speech. They wanted people to be able to express themselves without fear of being jailed or killed for their views. So while I disagree with those who chose to burn a flag, any flag, I fully respect their right to do so as a means of self expression. As long as it is their flag, and not someone elses property.

I won't do it and don't understand why people who are citizens of a country would want to burn their own flag but I'd let them do it. It certainly doesn't do them any credit to do so.
Exactly what are they saying? That they don't want to live here? Then leave. That they don't like the government? Then elect a new one. In the end our government is the people's will. Those burning the flag are complaining about themselves. Sad.

I don't like it but IMO it just shows someone's ignorance.
Burning the flag doesn't burn America.
Also, burning the flag doesn't make America any less noble, anymore than burning my bible takes Jesus out of my heart.

All for it on a chilly night. The flag is a thing. Things should never be idolized. Soldiers didn't die for a flag. They died so that others may live in freedom.

I think burning a flag of a country is allowed under free speech, but really unnecessary when you should address the issues and engage in political speech and mass movements without something risky and (pardon the pun) inflammatory

The only time it should be done is during special ceremonies to dispose of old flags, not as a supposed protest. If you want to protest there are several other ways to get your point across without disrespecting the flag of our nation.

It is silly to burn the flag, but I sure as hell won't stop peoples sillyness.
What is monumentally stupid is the inordinate amount of time we spend on this issue, instead of things that really affect us.
Like our childrens future. We'll do everything we can to protect them from lead paint, but won't do squat to make sure they have a bright future.
America has it's priorities totally screwed up.
All one has to do is look at our tabloid journalism to understand that, along with the hate from both the left and right.
Peace
Jim

Never. I don't believe in flag burning in protest - even with the bush administration...
