Being passionate about a cause has no worth when you're only setting yourself up for defeat. What's the point in caring?

Stop believing there has to be a point. Don't worry about the payoff or the victory. Just work hard and enjoy the success you had today.

I think the first way to deal with apathy, is stop caring about the cause, and start caring about people. That may sound strange, but having gone through a few hopeless causes, I realized that I was too focused on the big pitcher, and not enough of the ones around me who needed help.

That is, a cause only focuses on one aspect of human existence. Let us say, apathy as it is rather common. If we focus all our attention in helping people care, then we miss out on helping those who might only need a piece of bread, or someone to listen to them for a moment. Or, we develop apathy towards the needs people have other then the ones we want to help with.

Or causes train us to see people ‘over there’, defining them by their needs. But if you look around and start seeing people as people, loving them as a person and not just a need to fulfill, then you start seeing them as brothers and sisters, and as time goes on, apathy becomes a thing of the past.

Of course, all of this is how I have dealt with my own apathy, and may not be universal in its application. Then again, maybe it is, someone might know some day.

whose apathy are you speaking of? the world is more caring, more involved today then at any time in the past, not to say people didnt care in the past, but today we have access to more world needs, threw our media, plus for some we have less daily needs,
being passionate about a cause never has no worth, it has more worth if you are able to tune your voice so those who need to hear can hear

Don't try to combat apathy. Do the best that YOU can to find a purpose in this world and make it a better place to live in.

The only thing that can really work anymore is a good slap in the face, literally.
