Does this happen with all of your pictures or just 1 particular picture?
There could be a few problems. Here's some solutions.
Try downloading a picture from Yahoo Images, any picture, and then click to open the picture to see if you can view it. If you can view it, then your picture(s) in your My Pictures folder could be corrupt.
If you don't have a good picture viewing program, try downloading IrfanView which is a small graphics program that is used by many. It's free. You can download it here: http://irfanview.com/
After you download and install Irfanview, it will ask you what type of files to open and select 'all image formats.' This will also fix any file association problems you might have with your existing graphic viewing/editing program.
In addition, clean your hard drive and defrag it. Here's how:
Click Start, then click All Programs, then click Accessories, then click System Tools, then click Disk Cleanup. After that's done, go back to the same place and click Disk Defragmenter.
Lastly, make sure your picture files have extensions on them. For example, "mypicture.jpg" or "mypicture.gif." If you don't have an extension on the filename your programs could be getting confused.
I hope this helps.

use this program (CCleaner) found here> http://ccleaner.com/ and then run it to clean your computer up a bit. You're probably using a lot of RAM, which stands for random access memory, which handles the "short term" information. Also you could defragment your hard drive by going to my computer then right clicking on your hard drive. Select properties then select the tools tab, then defragment now. then press the defragment button. make sure you're not doing anything else at the time and leave your computer alone for a while until it's done, it may take a long time. Hope this helps.

it sounds like your image display program is corrupted. Do this: Download an image from a website on your desktop. Right click it and open it with internet explorer or any other image program than the one selected. If it works, then you know you have to switch your images to open with another program, or reinstall the broken one.

well, yes it could be a system error.
You could try out to run an antivirus programme, or a disc cleanup programme and finally if all these does not work then you can always create a new folder in someother drive.......and after doing all that stuff if u r still not satisfied then do install windows again.

Maybe too many pictures? What freezes? Whole computer or just the window? More details please, maybe a screenshot or two if it's just the window freezing.
