no if the world stopped rotating then for one one side of the earth would have been dark and the other side would have been light for a couple of days straight plus if the world just stopped rotating there would be no gravity and we would all fly off the earth.

the gravity of the earth isn't dependent of the rotation it is dependent on the large mass the earth has. and no the Earth did not stop rotating.
