I am 15 and want to start considering my future education now. I have no idea what I want to be and no idea what college to go to. I live in south FL but I want to go someplace else like Georgia. How do i choose a Major for myself?

Set up an appointment with your guidance counselor. Talk to him/her about this. The time to start planning your future is now. Once you pick a profession, then you can narrow down a school.

How about Law Enforcement?

You probably have many resources at your high school and your local library. Online, a great place to start is KnowHow2go, http://www.knowhow2go.org/ a website designed to help students from middle school on up in their college planning. You can even subscribe to a newsletter for high school sophomores which will give you timely advice on where you should be in the process. Check out their "Useful links" too.

Other good sites for learning about colleges are

CollegeNet, http://www.collegenet.com/resources/index_html

CollegePrep, http://home.okstate.edu/homepages.nsf/toc/CP101-toc

Students.gov, http://www.students.gov/

Some good books you can probably find in your school or public library:

90-minute college major matcher : choose your best
major for a great career / Laurence Shatkin.
Indianapo lis, IN : JIST Works, c2007

The College Board book of majors.
Publication info: New York : College Board, c2004-

College majors and careers : a resource guide for effective life planning / by Paul Phifer.
Publication info: Chicago : Ferguson Pub. Co., c2000.

College majors handbook with real career paths and payoffs : the actual jobs, earnings, and trends for graduates of 60 college majors / Neeta P. Fogg, Paul
E.Harrington, Thomas F. Harrington:
Indianapolis, IN : JIST Works, c2004.

Major in success : make college easier, fire up your dreams, and get a great job! / Patrick Combs.
Publication info: Berkeley, CA : Ten Speed Press, c2007.

They teach that in college!? : a resource guide to
more than 75 interesting college majors and programs.
Publication info: Chicago, Ill. : College & Career Press, c2006.

And talk to your high school counselor! There may be chances for internships, or job shadows right in your own community.

Hope this helps!

its ok, calm down, I'm in the same position as you

look at your grade point, figure out what level of college you honestly think you can get in to (be honest, and if you can raise your grade point, start NOW)

I don't know any colleges in the south. sorry, but don't worry about it. you have plenty of time for that later

think about what you are good at, and research what majors there are in that field (I'm good at drawing, so I am thinkin about graphic design)

hope this helps!

I am in college and my friends have changed their majors many times. Don't rush yourself, give yourself time. You'll figure it out in the future.

Did you ask the college advisor at your high-school. That person is there to assist students in their college path.
