The distributive property is just multiplying the term on the outside of the parenthesis to each term within the parenthesis.
-6(t - 1) = -6t + 6
-12(g + 12) = -12g - 144
13(p + 4) = 13p + 52
to simplify the expression , just combine like terms:
6y -a + y = 7y - a
