What's a good topic on South Asia to write an essay on?

Question

It's an essay on current problems in South Asia and it can be either social, political, religious, intellectual, or cultural. But it has to focus on one of those only. I'm going to have to write a 2.5 - 3 page essay on this so it's not just a quick summary of an article.

So what's a broad current topic?

Here are a few ideas for you.

1) You may write about the Insurgency in Sri Lanka between the Ceylonese and the Tamils in the north of the island.
2) You may write about the caste system in India and how some groups are shunned by other groups.
3) The constant flooding in Bangladesh because of it having a low ground level close to sea-level.
4) Children still being used for "Child Labour" despite the laws stating it is illegal.
5) Child marriages still taking place despite laws being enacted that state the legal of of marriage, and of Consent (for sex) as being 15.
6) The large number of Nepalese girls being "trafficked" into India to work as prostitutes.

How their economy is dependent on the US and UK. If you can't do that then write about the culture and how their values differ from western countries. And due to such values most South Asian countries aren't considered 1st world countries and are still bloody poor.
