All companies are different, but i have been pregnant twice when my husband has started new jobs and gotten new insurance and they both covered teh pregnancies. They told me that if you are under employer insurance they don't consider it a pre existing condition. The best way to find out is just call and ask his employer.

Depends on the insurance company. Some companies may consider that a pre-existing condition and not cover anything. You might want to apply for medicaid in your state. Most pregnant women qualify for pregnancy related medicaid.

It actually depends on the insurance company. Sadly some companies still consider pregnancy a pre-existing condition but significantly more are not, so you could be o.k. but the best thing to do is check with the H.R. dept. at your husband's work (or who ever deals with the insurance details) and find out if they know.

Usually the won't...some companies will. You should call the customer service line and ask them.

If they won't try to get Medicaid or there are some insurance companies out there that are just for maternity and will cover you even if you are already pregnant. Most of them however, will not cover you if you qualify for Medicaid.

According to HIPAA, they have to.

What is a preexisting condition?

A preexisting condition is a medical condition present before your enrollment date in any new group health plan.

Under HIPAA, the only preexisting conditions that may be excluded under a preexisting condition exclusion are those for which medical advise, diagnosis, care or treatment was recommended or received within the 6-month period before your enrollment date. (Your enrollment date is your first day of coverage, or if there is a waiting period to get into the plan, the first day of the waiting period.)

If you had a medical condition in the past, but have not received any medical advise, diagnosis, care or treatment within the 6 months prior to your enrollment date in the plan, your old condition is not a preexisting condition to which an exclusion can be applied. Moreover, under HIPAA, preexisting condition exclusions cannot be applied to pregnancy, regardless of whether the woman had previous health coverage.

In addition, a preexisting condition exclusion cannot be applied to a newborn, adopted child under age 18, or a child under age 18 placed for adoption as long as the child became covered under health coverage within 30 days of the birth, adoption or placement for adoption and provided that the child does not incur a subsequent 63-day break in coverage.

Finally, genetic information may not be treated as a preexisting condition in the absence of a diagnosis. If your coverage is through an insurance company or offered through an HMO, state law may provide additional protections.

pre-existing conditions are usually not covered by insurance companies in your case. I would go to my local dphs (department of human services) and apply for medicaid asap. Good luck and I hope you get covered because pregnancy is expensive!

In most states company provided insurance cannot consider pregnancy a pre-exsisting condition, so there for it should cover it. have your husband as his HR to be sure.

Do they know that you are pregnant? If so, it is considered a pre-existing condition. If not, Medicaid!

They probably will not cover "Pre-existing" conditions.. so what you need to do is find a gyn/ob and go to tell, them them "I dont know why i havent had my period".. they will then do a pregnancy test.. and boom your pregnant.. you just found out... thats it.. you will be covered then. hope this helped.
