Hello!

My wife told me that per Maryland law, I must attend five marriage counseling sessions with her in order to become legally separated in Maryland, with the intention of getting a divorce following a 1-year separation requirement. Is it true that Maryland requires marriage counseling for a separation and divorce? In case it is relevant, we have two young children.

Thanks for any help you can offer!

Seth

no that is not true unless they changed it in the last two years. all that is needed is to be separate for 1 yr. you actually can live in same house if you do not have sexual relationship, first of all you go to annapolis clerks office or downlaod forms for complaint for absolute divorce based on whatever. if it is adultery you can be granted almost immediate divorce, btw the masters and some judges do not know the law in maryland for adultery the prerequisites are if you have the means and the opportunity, in other words the private eye busting in with cameras and video does not have to happen, if say you have girlfriend and you go to her house and stay over night even if you have no intercourse it is BY the wording of the law the means and opportunity.

1 yr separation the only time counciling is required if you are fighting for custody then you must attend and pay half the price of a counseling session.

Who cares if it is true or not. Why don't you just play the game and attend the counseling session. Are you afraid the truth will be exposed?
