I heard that 20% of the worlds fresh water runs through the amazon every day. Is that true?
I also heard that it is so much fresh water that 200 miles out to sea you can still drink the water. is that true?

Regarding the first statement, I think that's true, especially when you take into account the length and the size of the river( at some point, you cannot see the other shore because of the large width).

Regarding the second statement, it might be true; however, it probably would not be wholly freshwater, but brackish(mixed salt and fresh) water.
