No, pythons and boas are not as dangerous as venomous snakes. Yes, pythons can kill you, but most which are popular in the pet trade have a tendency to be laid back. Most venomous snakes have a short temper, and are quick to strike, so obviously more caution is used with venomous snakes. But you still should treat them with respect, because accidents do happen. And there has never been a confirmed death by a boa constrictor, only by pythons. I have two burmese pythons over 10 foot which are very easy going and I couldn't picture them killing anyone, but I still have to be careful because there is still the possibility. But fortunately, government statistics show that more people are killed by lightning every year in the U.S. than by pet snakes.

Venomous snakes are no more apt to strike than a non venomous. I've worked with both and had cornsnakes, green tree pythons and amazons strike at me more readily than any ven. Potentially a large constrictor is every bit as dangerous as a venomous and both require safety protocols to avoid injury or death. The rule for large constrictors is actually a person for every 6 ft. So anything over 6 ft. should have an extra person when you handle or feed the animal.

A very large boa can be just as dangerous as any venomous snake. Constrictors come in many sizes, smaller ones wouldn't be as dangerous as one that was say, six feet long and three feet wide :P

I would say that it varies, depending on what types of snakes we're talking about here. Some have the capability to kill a human, either by constricting or by venom.

Potentially, yes. It is generally recommended that you never handle a snake that is longer than 10 feet by yourself--always have at least 2 people. If they get a grip around your neck, they are so quick and powerful you may not be able to remove it yourself.

Of course they can. Most non-venomous snakes are very very docile, but there are a few species that are extremely aggressive and can harm or even kill a human.
