I am trying to find out if there are any car companies such as GM, Ford, or Honda that also own shares of or an entire oil/gas producing company. It is for a school project, so I also need a source but if you know anything, you would help me greatly!!

Hi,

note that the oil companies are WAY WAY bigger than the car companies, based on market cap.

For example, here are some market caps:
Cars:
F: US$17.5B
GM: US$19.5B
TM: US$208B <---- only player even close
HMC: US$120B

Oil:
XOM: US$510B
RDS-B: US$264B
BP: US$221B
CVX: US$196B

hth.

afaik, the answer is no.

Moody's Industrial Manual [available in libraries] has lists of all the subsidiaries of every publicly traded US company.
