If you look at the news reports closely, you will see that the gun violence is only taking place in certain neighborhoods by certain people. (Yes, I mean that.) I believe it will end when children are raised to respect, not only themselves, but others and are taught by their parents that violence doesn't solve the problem, it makes it worse.
I live in Philadelphia, too. I was raised there. And I experienced first hand, by teaching in the inner city, the disrespect for others and the turn to violence to solve every problem.

well, I definately agree with the dude from Texas, that makes a lot of sense. A bunch of hillbilly's and the state where Bush came from. Maybe they should concern themselves with being the fattest state in the country, or the significant increase in violence in Houston.
Anyway, I live Philly too and the question is very complicated about gun violence. I believe somebody already mentioned, but a lot of the gun violence occurs in certain sections of the city. Look into places like Manayunk, Roxborough, East Falls, etc. The best suggestion is just to have some street smarts.

I have to agree with Dr.
I live in Philly and you see people all the time walking around with shirts that say "Don't Snitch". The police don't own the streets, the thugs do so this makes everyone scared to speak up and tell the police who is doing what. It's a mess.

if people would actually cooperate with the police to put these gangbangers behind bars, that might be a start.
