I have 3 120mm fans in my PC. One in back, one on the side, and one in the front for the HDDs. I am running a 600w Power Supply, and a Radeon HD 2900xt. so things are pretty hot in there now. I have 1 more 120mm fan just sittin around. I was thinking about drillin into the side above the other side fan and makin my own hole for a 4th fan. Would that be a smart idea or is 4 fans too much?

It should NOT be hot really since the HD2900XT blows the heat outside the case and not within the case. So, effectively, you have three exhaust fans; the 120mm at the back, PSU fan and the 2900XT's fan. If the side fan is intake, then you have 2 intake fans and that is just fine.
Yeah, 4 fans could be too much.

Put a high powered fan in the back to suck that hot air out. Stock 120mm fans run about 32CFM airflow. Get one that pushes about 70. You may have to power it off one of the power supply 4 pins if it draws too much so it doesn't fry your motherboard fan header. The problem is that you have too much hot air sitting around inside your case not being sucked out. The air from your front fan is also being warmed by your harddrives as it flows over them. Its always a good idea to have more airflow going out of a case than into it. It helps to cut down on dust accumulation too. Make sure your airflow isn't being restricted by IDE cables and clumps of power supply cables sitting in the middle of your airflow too. With big video cards PSUs and multple hard drives you also want to make sure you dont have any power saving settings on in bios that slow your fans rpms down either. With a 2900XT youre going to be running warm and as long as its not way up there it could be normal what youre seeing for temps. Air should be coming in thru the front and side and out thru the back, psu and video card.

that's rediculous. nobody needs 4 fans in their case. despite the fact that you do have a pretty big video card, the stock cooling(fan) on the card should be more then enough to keep it running normally(same with the power supply)

if you have decent airflow through your case with those other 3 fans already, there's no need for another fan, it'll just make your already ridiculous case more noisy.

four fans can work but I hope that you are working out the proper air flow pattern or you will just have them working against each other and blowing hot air around creating more heat

check the cpu temp in your BIOS, this will tell you if you need to add another fan

to me, you cant keep them cool enough
