Dear Jackie,
i enjoyed the book very much. I read it at the advice of a missionary who lived in China during the time when Japan occupied China.
The book gave me a good picture of what life was like during that time and i rather enjoyed it.
Not sure what you would consider a good book- i guess it depends on what you like-- i'm pretty well read- so if you want to email me and let me know what kinds of books you like- i may be able to reccommend a good read.

Examples of what? The Good Earth is one of the finest books ever written...there's your hook!

If you mean book, that is my favorite book of all time. great message about money not buying happiness. The guy starts out as a poor farmer and then gets rich, cheats on his rather plain wife. But in the end he is still not happy....
