There are good people doing extraordinary, interesting, and awesome things every day. I think it would be comforting, uplifting, and rebuild our faith and trust in mankind. It may even encourage us to do something good ourselves. I would like to see one channel dedicated to good news. With all the worrisome and depressing news we hear, it would be great to get some relief with good news .

You're right most of it is negative. But to be fair some of it is positive.

As for the reasons I suppose bad news sells better than good news. In part there is a lot of crap going on in the world and maybe the news is in its own way trying to bring attention to it in order of a remedy.

I do think we all could benefit from a higher proportion of good news, at least more variety. The news channels has become like pit bulls, locking on to one story and hanging on to it for dear life till the next victim to be chosen comes along.

What would you read. A story about someone holding someone up or a story about someone holding a door open for someone. A bad act draws attention which draws police which draws media. Most of us witness good acts of kindness and politeness every day, we don't need the media to tell us about it.

I guess the media feels their duty to inform does not cover things we all see every day. I do enjoy the stories about our hero's and those that go above and beyond in everyday life.

Believe it or not this is how the media get their rating-by attracting more audience. Most people can relate to events in their surrounding or community hence news of this nature increase audience. You can be selective about what you read and programs you listen to.

Bad news draws viewers, the more viewers, better ratings. As I stated before, ratings-ratings-ratings-ratings. TV and radio live and die by ratings.
