Well, it would seem that there would be a 20% chance, of course, but that's not what the POP means. The probability of precipitation refers to the area in a particular region that will be rained upon. So, if there is a 20% chance of rain, then 20% of the area covered by the forecast will get rain (if the forecast is correct). I wouldn't worry; a 20% chance is not very much, and if you notice it's very rare for forecasters to go below 10 per cent chance in any case. Besides: why worry? There isn't anything you can do about it anyway. Save your worry molecules for things you can do something about!!

It's rather simple math really...20% means 20 per 100. Reduce it down and it becomes 1 chance in 5. Which means 4 chances in 5 that it WON'T rain!!!

The way they figure it is this.Out of a hundred days it rains on 20 it would be 20%. It's figured on 100 day stretches.I think your pretty safe. If it were 50% and above I'd worry.Just check your local radar befre you leave for school.Just to be on the safe side.If it do's rain wear one of those things old ladies wear after they get their hair done.

It means that it will rain in 20% of the coverage area...whoever is providing the weather coverage. It may or may not rain where you are.

Hi. There is a one in five chance it will rain. But your really 'hairy' concern is the humidity!
