Many Americans are very cocky and they are acting as they are higher than any other human beings. That's the truth. Only a very small percentage of Americans that are nice, maybe only 0.01% of them are nice and friendly. They think just because they were born as Americans and can act anything they want and treat others badly?
Even, the American employees of businesses that deal with customers are acting differently with customers who are not Americans. That's discrimination! They said they don't discriminate anymore and they have the best customer services, blah blah blah... However, it's just words that come out from the mouth and not the real fact.
They said they have the best human right, but the truth is showing differently. You want an example? The example is Guantanamo Bay Prison. Those people being held indefinitely without going to the court. Some of those people are not even guilty, but they are in prison indefinitely. What do you think?

Yes, they are simple, but they are NOT pure, nice NOR friendly. If you think they are PURE, then, you are dreaming and you have not met an American at all. Americans are being influenced by the media, government, peer pressures, etc. Most of them have known about drugs, sex, some even had criminal records even if they are only teenagers. So, they ARE NOT PURE!!!

America is big and it has a different history from others. It is very worldly in many ways as well as weird in many ways.

It is a good thing for them that many americans are raised to be cocky and proud of their country.

They have an almost total freedom that others in the world do not have nor practice.

They have too much discrimination in their past that is why there are too much counteracting rules and actions.

their government and their people might not be the same as many countries are in their behavior but they have full democracy.

It all depends upon your personal experiences about them.

For me , I like americans that they have to be politically correct and anyone can sue anybody for anything. That keep everyone in check.

Most americans I have met are quite pure and simple.

I wouldn't think to hard about it. many americans are nice but tis true that a lot of them are a ignroant about what goes on outside their contires. those are the ones who are rude but they are also rude to other americans. they just think that THEY are the most important people in the world... but you get that in every contry!

this may offend some but Ive worked a lot in tourism and found that the rudest tourists are Germans and the French

Best of course are Japanese

They are only better than you if you let them think they are!
No-one is 'better' than anyone else!
And I bet there are a lot more than 0.1% of Americans that are nice!
You can't judge the whole country on a small amount of people!
If you think someone is better than you, then it's your fault for letting them make you feel this way.

Just like evolution, our history has a lot to do with our culture and traditions. In the past we were known as the ugly American because of the way we treated people when we visited other countries. That was because only the rich and powerful could afford to travel much and they got that way in their quest for money and power. Its not as true today because more average Americans can travel.

With one language and a very large country few Americans can understand accents and haven't had cause to learn. So they tend to dismiss those that don't speak English clearly. With the current rate of immigration that is changing.

Bringing up Guantanamo Bay is entirely a different subject. These people were captured on a battlefield. With the "fog of war" and many nations and "Afghan tribes" capturing combatants it is nearly impossible to find the few that were wrongly captured or that are not longer a threat. War has always resulted in some civilian losses. I consider these prisoners civilian losses until their innocence can be estabished or the "war" is over.

As far as discrimination; we all discriminate. I chose girls to date, not boys. I like people that like to do the same things I like to do. I may be kind and polite to people I disagree with but I don't spend time with them. And if I strongly disagree with them I may discriminate against them buy avoiding them entirely. Have you examined yourself to see if there is "good" reason for them not to be polite to you. Or did they just have a bad day.

About our cockyness. We are indoctrinated from birth how lucky we are to live in the United States. Just because we were born here we have so many advantages over other countries that they must envy us. We see people from the world over trying to move here and become one of us. Please forgive us for being proud of that, and try to give us a chance to warm up to you(or you to us).

I think you are just an unhappy person looking for an audience to vent upon. I don't believe a word you say. I'mm 55 years old. Lived in this country all my life. I have been dealing with the public for close to 30 years. Sure, we have some sour balls amongst us but, for the most part, most people are very nice, if you are nice to them.

I think you are here for one reason only. To get attention.

Do you know every single American? If not, you can't possibly know what we're all like. You're just as prejudiced as you accuse us of being, so get off your high horse and suck it.
