Home hairdressing requires very little capital, but does require training. If you're good at it, and you make enough money, you can in time open your own salon.

There are thousands of business ideas that you can start for nothing.
What you need is a good idea.
The problem is that businesses based on "I want to make money" usually don't. You need to work out what you are interested in and are good at, then build your business based on that.
Ideas include using your kitchen to make home made jams and preserves and then finding a distribution network through little shops in tourism friendly country towns.
Selling products over the Internet. Which is harder than it sounds. But for example, you might source a unique UK local product and then sell it over the Internet to other countries. I have taught web design to an Australian person who sold Australian rugby league items by mail order, mostly to the UK.
Other options are tourism businesses. You don't have to put any money down except on promotion. Maybe you could organise bus pub tours for tourists. What you do is spend money on the promotional material, then distribute it around backpacker places in the local area. Friday night, you hire a bus (the size depends on the number of people) and just take drunken tourists around to different venues, talk a bit about the history of the place and famous events (or famous people who have drunk there).
But you need the idea and build it from there.

The number one startup small business which involves little or no money is SEO or Search Engine Optimization of websites. Most businesses and enterprises that have websites are in constant need of Net traffic generated by high placement of their domain names on search engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN. Again, search engines are the Yellow Pages for the Internet and the most effective SEO metatag placement will draw visitors and purchasers to only high ranking websites. That kind of customer generation is instant income to the highest ranked websites. For example, when searching for --croissants in downtown los angeles-- at Google.com, there are some 535,000 search results and it appears that the PR2 [PageRank] belongs to a mom-and-pop bakery with a website called nazos.net. And because of Nazos.net's PR2 position, this bakery draws the bulk of croissant customers in downtown los angeles.
If you could learn to become a successful SEO [Search Engine Optimizer]; you would be tapping into an unlimited source of income because every website owners is more than willing to pay whatever price to become the highest visible website on search engines.
Good luck!

Look at business that offer services rather than products. Retail requires stock which has a large outlay also somewhere to store and sell the products. Your also competing against huge retailers with huge bulk purchasing power. If you go into retail at a low level it needs to be very niche and you need to really research the area well.
Businesses such as Recruitment Consultancy, Repairs, cleaning.. Generally only require equipment and of course skills.
By the way entering into teaching with the motivation to teach is possibly the most frustrating and stressful job on the planet. Been there and bought the t-shirt. Here is some advice from teachers that lasted the course.
"it's just a job" "I would'nt even bother trying to teach them anything they are too stupid" "If you put too much effort in it makes us look bad".
