Um, well unless there was some huge disaster that made all of the oil dissappear we'd probably find eventually find other ways to make things run (in the event of a "huge disaster" we'd just do it a lot faster =D). Necessity is the mother of invention. We evolve and change to survive. For thousands of years we survived without gasoline...not to mention that running out of gasoline is not the worst thing that could happen to the world as a whole.

Do you like horses? There are other energy sources. Wind and water generated electricity , solar power. No gasoline is not the end of the world. Just a change. The future might be something like the 1870's meets science fiction. Horses and buggies and bicycles for short distances. Electric vehicles for longer trips. And all electric homes with wind and solar providing most of the power. The main power grid being reserved for industry and businesses. This is of course providing we do a little planing before the oil runs completely out.

You would have to walk to the Mall and go across this huge empty parking lot.....and all the drive up windows would have to close down...and no more drive -ins...everybody would have 3 or 4 bikes in their driveway and the air all of a sudden would be a lot cleaner and no smog problems in major citys'
and the stupid druggies would not be hanging their head in a bucket of gas and sniffing the fumes and burning their brain cells out...this could be a long answer but I will stop for now...

You mean, besides having to walk everywhere? besides having no heat? no electricity? (in a lot of places) Most jobs would no longer exist; those that remain, such as farming, would be completely different.
Hey, good news: there would be a lot less pollution, principally because without petroleum there would be a lot less food produced, meaning about 6 billion people world-wide would die.
Total collapse of the world's economies...

I'd say Total Chaos. War. Watch the movie "The Road Warrior" with Mel Gisbon to give you an idea.

I dont think we know how to function without it. Transportation of all our products would be the worst thing. We couldnt drive, fly, it would be complete chaos.
