First of all, he is a President and second of all he is a guest in this country. He was supposed to be respected as a guest from other country and the University of Columbia's President just showed the world how 'FRIENDLY' America is by insulting the Iran President before he even spoke.
This is terrible and lower the image of America than ever before. Even though he is a bad President, but he has done nothing wrong to the US and he is not supposed to be treated like that.
It would make the America as a bully than as a good country.
Now, he remained calm throughout the speech and that's a true gentleman because he could calm himself even though he was insulted. If an American in other country was insulted like him, the American would act out of control.
Now, the Columbia's President just showed the world how to treat Americans in other country. How terrible is that? Don't you think the world was watching? What do you think?

I agree with MrMojo60. Why did the University of Columbia President invite Iran President to speak if he was going to insult him before his face? I think it's awful. As an educated person, he shouldn't do that at all. I think he should resign or force to resign as President of University of Columbia. He is no different than Iran President himself. What's the different between a small bully and big bully? They are both bullies.

Tell me what has he done wrong to the US?
Tell me why there are no WMD in Iraq as the report from CIA, FBI, Bush administration?
Why Americans still believe what the US government tell to its citizens? Why Americans cannot think using their own brain? Why they have to be told by the government and the media what to do??? Think using your brain! Do you have brain inside your head?

I think that was tasteless on the president of Columbia's part. Not to say that the Pres of Iran in an angel, but why invite a president of a country to speak if you are going to berate/insult him? Wouldn't it make more sense to just not invite the Iranian president in the first place? I think that the president of Columbia's insulting speech was a direct response from all the criticisism that he received by inviting the Iranian President to speak. His speech was to take the pressure off himself, at the president of Iran's expense.

That was sad! Although i don't have approve anyone goals to try to get some nuclear weapons, americans, who do you think you are too tell another country not to do something? I don't support iran but it think Americans are not fair! So because you are powerful, YOU, Americans can have those weapons, but others can't and won't because you don't want them too? i mean, tell me, is it logical? is it reasonable? Why don't America throw is weapons as an example so others could lead the way? i think that because America is powerful, americans thinks that for some reason, they have to protect the world or smthg! The president of university of Colombia is a stupid human being! A 50 yrs and more who acted like a 15 yrs old! Why would you invite the guy to make speech and insult him like he did smthg to you. Again, i don't support Iran here, but i'm trying to be objective and use my conscience! they ask the guy, question about women and gay! So because being gay in America is legal, you criticize Iran because it's not over there? Why? you're culture is better than others? you hold the absolute truth? Why do you want Iran to reward the homosexual? Why do you boo when he says there is no homosexual in his country? And if they were, maybe they never came forward. What do you know about it? What don't you respect their culture instead of booing them?
Another good point that he mentionned, is that, the gov supports or buy weapons to some group for some dark goals! People might laugh at it, but it is true! What you see on CNN is not always the reality! I lived in a coutry( ivory coast) where the french government led by Chirac sponsored and armed rebels who came from the north of that country and attacked it! i was in that country and i could tell the difference between what i saw and what the french media sur as TV5 depicted! I'm not a politician or anything like that, i like America, i dont hate Iran, i just turned 21, i probably don't know anything about life, but damnnn, americans can't always have it their ways cuz life ain't no burger king.

They just paraded four Iranian-Americans through their kangaroo courts (let's not forget the British who went through the same thing), spent his time insulting us before he came over here and we're supposed to have no hard feelings? Look kids, we treat our own politicians rough and if he didn't notice there's a *little* hostility showing up between the countries. What I love is the fact we're supposed to be sensitive about other cultures when we're in *someone else's* country and then be sensitive about their culture when they're *here*. I'm thinking a little more reciprocity is needed here. I say we go by the rules of the country you are in. And if you spend your time bashing us and then expecting us to place nice you haven't done your homework.

What do I think? I think he should never been allowed into this country at all. I cannot see how anyone, anywhere could have respect for this sneering creature who will look you in the face and lie like a dog. "True gentleman"? That "true gentleman" would have you killed, slowly and painfully, in an instant if it amused him. I cannot for the life of me understand someone which such utter naivety as yourself. I assume you are not American, and are only posting in order to show your contempt for America. Do this: Take your naive little ****, and go live in this "true gentleman's" terror state of a country, then post again and tell us all how you like it. OK to insult him, indeed! Damn straight!

Too bad. I was with you up until you said "but he has done nothing wrong to the US".

I listened to him on CSPAN. He was a raving lunatic puppet with a message from his religious leaders.

I think he should have been treated more maturely, but I really don't feel sorry for him, I feel the event was another black eye for us that reflects not just on elected officials this time, but very directly on U.S. citizens.

Despite who he is, it was not SMART for us to be so insulting. Iranian customs dictate being respectful to guests, no matter who they are. The image of the US worldwide, especially in the Middle East will suffer greatly.

At least here that nutcase was allowed to speak. I don't think that would happen in Iran.

It does not show a lot of class, that's for sure, not after inviting him to speak.

He is a guest in our country, and comes here to insult us. We are justified.

I think you're off your rocker. "bad president"!!! are you serious? that's like saying Hitler was a bad club leader. You wait and see what happens when he finally gets his finger on the button.

You know what I think about this countrie's "image" in the eyes of the rest of the world....."f" em. If I were king, I'd close the entire border, pull every dime of foreign aid, and let em see how they get along without us.
