I don't care, I'm sure most un-circumsized men wish they were circumsized! If I have a son, I'll definitely get him circumsized. I doubt they'll wake up one day and say, 'Why the hell did you get my penis cut! I hate you!' But I'm so glad I had a baby girl...I'd hate having to mess with a penis like that!

Is it really such a hippy thing to believe that males themselves rather than their parents should have the right to decide whether or not to have part of their penis (the skin is NOT "extra") chopped off? Is it hippy to think that infants who scream their lungs out or (worse) go into shock (which has been shown to be the usual case when they don't cry) are experiencing excruciating pain. Is it also hippy to think that pain is pain, whether he remembers it as an adult or not? Is it weird to think that babies should be cherished and protected, not subjected to cosmetic surgery which they may regret later? If so, I guess I'm a hippy!
Plenty of guys DO resent the decision that their parents made to deprive them of a foreskin. Read a few answers by cut50yearsago, for example: http://answers.yahoo.com/my/profile;_ylt=AsFqbmflOVLaK5kG8R_ph8vsy6IX;_ylv=3?show=0eed9c0d5321fb5386d80251ae138fb0aa Or the much younger man who wants to sue his parents for mutilating him: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AnYJh6j9gK0hmSEid_NGzs3ty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20070923223349AA6Y4Ht&show=7#profile-info-fb4d2a6ae826df755713036d318da43daa You see, not all boys grow up to think that their parents made the right decision. If an intact guy wants to get cut, he can; no problem. If a cut guy wants his foreskin back, he's out of luck. Bottom line is that it's HIS penis. And HE's going to be the one experiencing that horrible pain. What harm can it do to let him decide when he's an adult?

My 16 year old cousin is proud of his mom for not circumsizing him. My aunt is anti hippy, very conservative republican. My cousins dad is latino, and they discussed it and decided to go with the majority of the world and not do it.
Cousin told me that none of the guys on the high school football team were looking at his penis (always hear the lockerroom excuse), and that no girl has complained about it either.
I wish my ex's ma hadn't had him done, it wasn't done right and has a little scarring, It made sex difficult for him, some pain involved because it was too tight. What gave her the right to ruin his future sex life because she wanted his penis to look pretty? (her words)

Im against it because for non jews it is not required and no matter what the parents think, (it will keep him from masturbating, it will be cleaner, he will not get cancer ect)
that Penis and foreskin belong to that boy, Not to the parents, and it should be his choice when he reaches an age where he can responsibly make a decision as to cut it or not.
Unless there is a legitimate medical reason, keep your razors away from it.
to agree with Freaked below,
in the US it is illegal to perform the same operation of a little girl, and is called Sexual mutilation, but to do it to a little boy is considered Fine?

I agree with you Danwilson. Why are people so concerned with circumcision these days? It's like the new fad. Some of the replies here just make ya think don't they? I think squishing my child's head through my vagina is "cruel and unusual punishment" LOL !!! It's a personal choice and shouldn't even be talked about. I know a guy who chose to have it done when he was older because he felt different than his peers. Is he a masochist? I only had one of my son's circumcised... which one am I abusing?

If someone wants to cut up his own penis, fine. It's messing with the penises of helpless, infants who couldn't care less whether or not he "looks like the other boys." He just doesn't like all that terrible pain. The foreskin is there for a reason. Look it up. If you don't have one, you're missing out on some good stuff.

Okay, to the individual who suggested that removal of the foreskin is equivalent to female genital mutilation:
A male with foreskin removed can still enjoy sex and function fully. A female who has had her clit and labia removed is not going to be able to climax. Even though both of these things are called circumcision, they are NOT equal. Also, Jews are not the only ones who perform circumcision. Muslims practice circumcision as well.

It's just a weird tradition if you ask me. Why would you cut off part of a boy's penis? I think it's a little hypocritical we hear about female circumcision in Africa and freak out about how unnatural that is, yet we continue to do it to our little boys.

Honestly I think it's a terribly cruel thing that has no medical value. I equate it to child abuse and of course I would speak out about someone abusing their child. A child's body belongs to the child, not the parents. They are caretakers of their child, not owners.

I firmly believe circumcision is a parents choice. Yes I know different religions/cultures feel differently, but in USA, it is a parent's choice. I chose to have my son circumsized when he was born. I did my research and did what I thought was best. As long as you look into it at the pro's/con's.. do what you feel is best...and don't let anyone else's opinion change your mind...
