I have a 6 month old son who coughs an aweful lot. Everyday and every few hours. Lately he has even been sucking in air afterwards for a few breaths. Does anyone know asthma symptoms? Thanks so much.

I would see about getting him into an asthma and allergy clinic. All three of my girls have asthma and syptoms vary for each child. It does sound possible or it might be a cold. If hes coughing a lot have him checked for RSV which is a viris that is deadly for babies. Good Luck.

Coughing
Wheezing
Shortness of breath or fast breathing
Chest tightness

if your baby coughs frequently and has allergies or eczema, and your family has a history of asthma and allergies or eczema (especially if you and your partner both have them), there's a good chance that your baby has asthma. His symptoms are likely to be worse at night.

also, these may be worse when this is the case:

Viral infection (such as a viral cold or bronchitis)
Smoke (tobacco, wood, etc.) or other irritants (like strong perfumes or odors)
Exercise or active playing
Things the child is allergic to, such as pollen or animal fur
Changes in weather/humidity
Crying or laughing

My daughter is 9 months and that they did not diagnose it as allergies yet whilst she replaced into 5 months she could sound somewhat wheezy and you may desire to tell she replaced into having undertaking respiration. I took her to the surgeon and that they had to furnish her a shot of steriods interior the workplace to open up her lungs so now she has to take a nebulizer medical care two times an afternoon. They gave her albuterol for if she has an attack it opens her up in the present day and he or she takes pulmicort on an time-honored basis to steer away from destiny assaults. by way of fact that is chilly out she takes the treatments a splash extra oftentimes by way of fact she has a extra stable time respiration. So purely take her to her surgeon and that they are going to understand what to allow you already know for specific.

I;d have him looked at.

At this age its normal for babies to cough and suck in air and do all sorts of strange things like that. Mostly because they have realized they can.

But you can certainly have him checked, just incase.
