I've been told to sign up for Childbirth classes by the WIC office. Of course I'm going to do it, but is this the same as Lamaze or is that a different class I'll have to take altogether?

Not all childbirth classes are Lamaze anymore. Mine wasn't. I think they're trying to get away from Lamaze. My class taught me sooo much. They taught me simple relaxation breathing, laboring positions, what to expect, all your options, etc. It helped me realize what to expect. Mine also went through breastfeeding and simple baby care. I think I would have been freaking out if I hadn't taken the class, as I wouldn't have understood what was happening or what to do about it. I highly recommend classes. If you have nearby friends who've recently taken classes, ask them how their's was. My boyfriend went to one at a hospital 30 min away 4 yrs earlier and said it wasn't that great and that ours was much better.

Lamaze is one childbirth class. Bradley is another. There are several different types. Find out which ones are offered in your community and sign up for the one that best suits you.

Its a waste of time. When it comes down to the nitty gritty your body takes over and you do what comes natural.
I didnt take any classes, and Iam glad I didnt. I did it my way and it worked great.
I do believe they are different from lamaze, you'll have to take those on your own. But you can call and ask about it iam sure.
