the president of Iran wants to get rid of Israel while historically the rulers of Persia actually went to some lengths to restore it? King Cyrus let the Israelites go home after being captured by the Babylonians and deported and he even gave them back the gold items from the temple and told them to rebuild it. When people tried to stop the rebuilding later King Darius reaffirmed it and proclaimed a death sentence for anyone who tried to change the decree. Of course, Ahmadinejad's already shown an ignorance of history in his denial of the holocaust.

I don't find this odd at all. Persia encompassed a huge area, and many different religions. In addition, Persia did this well before the advent of Christianity and Islam. It was a totally different land, with totally different politics.

I find it interesting that:

1. Ahmadinejad can basically throw a "death to Israel" into every other speech, but Iranian scholars will complain that he was treated to harshly by some guy from Columbia University.

2. A nation with some of the largest oil reserves on the planet would want to develop nuclear power for "peaceful purposes."

3. Depending on who you cite, homosexuals consist of 2-5% of the population, but in a statistical miracle, Iran has 0 homosexuals.

4. Ahmadinejad seeks a weapon....excuse me, a power source for peaceful purposes...that was developed by Oppenheimer, a Jew.

He also finds it convenient to forget that it was the Jews who were originally displaced from the area and that his battle cries equate to nothing more than their continued harassment and exhibit nothing more than the continued prejudice that those within the region routinely show toward anyone who doesn't share in their religious beliefs.

Blame the jews and the US and a dictator can pretty much scapegoat all the problems he himself is creating in his country.

bob, if you dont believe he is against the individual jew then you are a very very very ignorant or naive person.

His ignorance is really hatred. your point is well made as you cited passages of the Old Testament. Some of us believe that the Bible and history are inseparable. Ah-jad has a problem with the infidels. End of the story
