If I had done something I would apologize. If I hadn't done anything, then I would tell them that I was sorry they felt that way. And let it go at that. What else can you do?

People who are depressed and/or in pain saying things that they may not meal. I would take the statement at face value and let go, ignore it, and have good memories of the person. What I would say, "I love you and will miss you very much" No more

There are times in life when assumptions are terrible; this is not one of those times. Assume this person is attempting to ease the pain you will feel when they die. Tell them you are soory they feel that way, tell them you love them and hope they will allow you to stay in their life. Forgive them for this little lie.

I would try to find out why they hated me and then I would have to feel sorry for them that even facing death that they can't be at peace with everything.
