We had plenty of wide open space when I was a 12 year old. I could visit a friends place for the weekend and drive for 20 minutes without any risk of running into anything but sheep and they were clever enough to get out of the way when they saw two 12 year olds doing circle work in the ute (spinning round and round in the table top ~ truck whatever).

I first drove a car by myself at eleven, and had been burning to get behind the wheel for a few years before that. Things were different then. My cousins that lived on farms were driving the farm truck to feed livestock by the time they were ten. After riding plow mules, cars were a breeze!

I was prepared,as I had already experienced my driving debut at the tender age of 4... I slipped the car in neutral and the car began rolling backward down a steep hill..a good samaritan happened by,jumped in and saved my cousin and I from a possible brush with death.

At that point, I had driven some golf carts, so I thought it wouldn't be that hard to make the switch. However, I remember the first time my dad had me drive. I was a little nervous, but after a couple of blocks or so, I decided I could handle it.

it was easy for me because I've been driving since I was 7. That's the advantages of living and growing up on a ranch
