My platy is eating the bubbles from the top of the water and then bubbles come out of its gills. Also it seems to be going to the top and sucking air. Whats going on here?

If it seems to be gasping for air there are a couple of possibilities. First check your heater to make sure it's not malfunctioning. If the water temperature is too high, ther's less dissolved oxygen in the water, so it may actually need more sir.

If the temperature is below 82o, do you have a filter in the tank? Dissolved oxygen in the water depends on what movement. Filters are better at circulating the water than air pumps/air stones. If you use an undergravel filter only, you can get a powerhead to run this and it moves more water than the air pump.

Can you test your water for ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate? If the possibilities listed above aren't your problem, it's a good possibility that water quality is - especially if this is a new tank (running less than 2 months) or if you're used antibiotics in the tank within that time. Here, do a 50% water change to bring the levels down if ammonia or nitrite are above 0.5 or nitrate is above 40ppm. If you can't test your water or get a sample to a pet store today to have them test for you, go ahead with the water change - it won't hurt your fish to have an extra cleaning.

whales are like that, they go up to get some air, is that a whale Ü LOLZ!!!

that's weird, i heard that blowing air to a fish' gills would hurt them, maybe it's similar to sucking bubbles too because it has air inside, maybe your fish' gills is hurt that's why it goes up and gets air through it's mouth,
im not sure, just heard it

I don't know anything about fish, but could this mean that there is not enough "air" in the water? Maybe you need more plants in the aquarium.
