Not me, I have to have a serious concern with the food or service to bother the hard working staff with trivial stuff. I have seen other people do that though and have been on the receiving end of some when I worked in the industry

I have never ever in my life complained at a restaurant to make myself feel superior because that's just sad and pathetic really.
I remember working as a waiter and some customers would deliberately put me on the spot and would try to catch me out by quizzing me about the food and drinks menu.
Sometimes you could tell that the customer was genuinely interested in the selection but sometimes you just knew they where doing it to show off in front of their family/friends.

because no one is better then their mother, or grandmother.
OK seriously though many are on dates and just want to be seen as suave or cultured and if the date is smart they'd see them for the idiots they are.
on the other hand, they're just idiots and are going about the whole dinning experience the wrong way. where you go is what your going to get.
as a cook i know the difference between where i eat and what's acceptable for that place. and what's not acceptable. better is always good, less is irritating but nothing to get pompas about to the waiter. order a plate of pancakes at ihop and guess what, you get pancakes from ihop, basic pancakes. if i go to that expensive Italian place in north end, then i believe i have the right to ask where their house Chianti comes from because I'm curious if it's American or other wise. after all house wines are supposed to be chosen for their compatibility with most of the house's dishes.
so it's all in the person and the place i guess, ignore the idiots

Once I went out for dinner with a man a doctor and he had the nerve to complain about the size of his salmon. He said it was a child's sized portion. I was sooo embarrassed. I wanted to crawl under the table and hide. The cook made him another and said it was the biggest salmon in the kitchen. I was finished eating by the time he got it then I had to sit there with no food while he ate. All so he could flex his muscle. He made an idiot of himself. what made it even funnier is he's a skinny guy. not like he's 300 pounds.

If you're a waiter you must be wrong ....never met one that was worth tipping in my life ....wait there were 2 that i can recall thinking she or he was the best waiter server I've ever seen..... I wish I had all the money I've tipped to lousy servers, out of guilt or not wanting to look like a jerk....I'd buy a new car...

It just comes naturally with me when there's a valid reason to complain. After all, I pay good money for patronizing such a place. Affectations of superiority? That might be for the bullies who are really insecure of their status in life.

Nope, I never have. Seems to me that the people who do that are harboring an inferiority complex that they are trying to overcome by faking superior knowledge.
