Is it because they're spinning? If someone could direct me to a good website explaining the physics behind the sound I'd be forever grateful! :)

Hematite is not magnetic, magnetite is. Hematite does not buzz. I have seen many specimens of hematite but have never heard one buzz, much less spin. In fact, I have never heard any mineral or rock buzz or spin.

Buzz? how many magnets do you have?

If you have two magnets colliding against each other, then they are buzzing because they are bumping together and vibrating...
