MLB uses is predefined three-way seeding tiebreaker methods to determine which division winners get the first, second, and third seeds. The wildcard (always #4) then plays #1 or, if #1 is from the same division, #2.
The first tiebreaker is head-to-head records; if one team won its season series against both of the other division champs, it gets the #1 seed. If this fails to break out one team, the second method is H2H against the other division winners in aggregate (e.g., Boston's record against Cleveland and Anaheim* combined). Best winning percentage this way gets the #1 seed, second-best #2, last #3. If this fails, there are more options.
* Yeah, I know they prefer LA these days. Fie upon that.

By the Second Place team in wild card losing all their Games, as for the Tigers they need to lose one more time Yankees will be in the playoffs, and the Yankees can still lose the AL East if they lose and the Red Sox win Clinch the Division this Thursday, Mark my words.

first of all, it doesnt matter if the division leaders are all tied, the wild card is the team with the best record after the division leaders, but if there is a tie for the wild card, there will be a one game play off.

Tie breakers according to head-to- head records between LAA and Cleveland because Boston and NYY cannot play in the ALDS. Cleveland has the tie breakers so they would play Wild Card at home for games 1,2 and 5.
